About the blog

Welcome to Live, Laugh, Leipzig!  My name is Becky Markovitz. I am a recently married teacher, scientific researcher, travel enthusiast, and now blogger! My husband Craig got a wonderful opportunity to live and work in Leipzig, Germany with his American-based company, so I am traveling along with him!

This blog is a documentation of our experiences, the good and the bad, to show our friends, family, and random interested strangers what life is really like as an expat in Germany. I’ve been told that while living as an expat you encounter many strange, unpredictable cultural phenomena. Moreover, I’m told that you will make foolish cultural mistakes, many, many times. I call this blog “Live, Laugh, Leipzig” because I know the only way to survive these weird or embarrassing experiences is to laugh about them. And that is exactly what we plan to do. I hope you enjoy laughing on our behalf!

Hi Becky, thanks for following me on Fraulein Wanderlust. Leipzig is a great city (so close to the Elbsandstone Mountains!) I’m sure you will have a great time there. Stay open-minded, we Germans can be distanced at first, we eventually open up though! 🙂

Hi Becky! I don’t know why I feel like I should’ve been following your blog a while ago but just have until now. I love what I’ve read so far, I love your writing, it’s very entertaining. Germany sure is an interesting place. Will be following along.
